I am an assistant professor at the University of Vermont in the Department of Community Development & Applied Economics. My research explores the forces that shape local economic vitality and community well-being in rural and small-town America. Grounded in geospatial and computational social science methods, my research brings together large-scale data and the quantitative traditions of economics, geography, and urban planning. Across my scholarship, teaching, and outreach, I investigate how regional context defines the trajectories of local businesses, institutions, and communities.
